October 2026 – Listen Here
Her lips would never ask him to stay, though they had betrayed her more wanton desires often enough in the hours preceding.
The Guardian knew the difference between the studied nonchalance of her voice and the invitation in her eyes. He knew how her fingers closed around his shirt when he drew her against him, how she lifted her chin toward his mouth only to hesitate, fearful of asking for more than he wished to give. Yet each kiss betrayed her anew, her body yielding against his as though it had been waiting for the embrace long before either had dared to suggest it.
They were not new lovers, and still there remained a curious diffidence between them, an unwillingness to presume upon one another’s hedonistic proclivities. It was a captivating contradiction, this almost courtly consideration surviving amid such fervent embraces, when breath mingled with breath, and the last remnants of polite conversation had long since been abandoned.
Later, water coursed through her sapphire hair beneath his calloused hands. The fragrance of petals lingered upon her skin, followed by the drone of the dryer and the gentle passage of his fingers through each damp strand. There was an intimacy in these domestic ministrations that softened her brittle edges until tears glistened upon her lashes, unbidden and impossible to conceal.
By morning, her room would bear no testimony to their passion. Her perfume would have faded, the shower would sparkle, the dryer would be returned to its place, and fresh linen would lie to the world, concealing all that had transpired in the hours when respectable souls were meant to be sleeping.
Yet before dawn could expose their indiscretions, she stirred against him beneath the covers. His arms encircled her hips, drawing her close as a feral moan escaped his lips. She settled over his mouth, silently begging to taste the rapture of the stars just one more time.
Until next time, XO. Elsie
